This is a 6-mile out-and-back hike along the Hiwasse River. It is an easy hike with little change in elevation. This is a beautiful trail along the broad Hiwasse River. It was one of the best hikes we have done this year. When we pre-hiked it we saw herons, geese, turtles and river otters. Hopefully, we will also enjoy some fall colors. On the way back we can stop at the Savannah Vineyards in Etowah.

Bring water, a trail lunch, walking stick, hiking boots, and $4.00 per person for gas for your driver.

Directions: US Route 411 south through Etowah to TN Route 30 east. Turn left on Route 30 and go 5.6 miles to Route 315. Turn left, go over the bridge and then take the first right. Go to the Childers Creek Parking area. We will meet here. From here we will caravan to the start of the hike.
