The wide trail crosses the Abrams Creek and follows the Abrams Gorge through Rhododendron groves and pine forests along the picturesque stream to the Abrams Falls and Lagoon. The falls tumbles 20 feet over a resistant limestone ridge into a broad lagoon that is 100 feet wide. The falls and lagoon are an excellent place to relax and absorb the roar of falling water and the natural beauty and serenity of the place.
Bring water, a trail lunch, walking stick, hiking boots, and $4.00 per person for gas for your driver.
Directions: Route 321 through Maryville. The Townsend Visitor Center is on the right, not very far past the Back Porch Restaurant. We’ll meet there before going into the Smokies. Turn right out of the Visitor’s Center and turn right at the “y” at Little River Road, and then take
the road to the Cades Cove Loop Road and follow the loop to the
unpaved road between sign posts #10 and #11 and turn right –
the unpaved road terminates at the trail head.
