New Villagers Golf is a social event for golfers of all levels.  It is designed for us to get to know each other better, without the pressure of competition. There are no prizes, trophies or standings.  Play is a scramble format with a shotgun start.  Each week the monthly coordinator determines the exact format for the game; i.e., it may be a “modified scramble”.

We play every Thursday except for the 1st Thursday of each month, which is the evening of the New Villagers Social.  Tee off is at 4:30 PM so we ask that everyone arrive by 4:00 PM.  In 2010 we will rotate between the Tanasi, Toqua and Kahite courses.

Click Here to review the courses and menus for this season's New Villager's golf scramble.

Teams are made up of two couples; sometimes you are paired with your spouse – –  sometimes you are not (as determined by the monthly coordinator).  Singles will also be accommodated which may result in some threesomes.

Dinner at the course being played is optional, but highly encouraged as part of the social experience.

    Sign-up

You must sign up for each week that you wish to play golf and/or have dinner.  You can do one or the other, or both.

    Couples can sign up:

          - at the dinners following each week of golf for the following two weeks,

          - at the New Villagers Social (1st Thursday of each month), or

          - by calling or e-mailing the monthly coordinator by the Saturday before the play date.

You will receive an e-mail prior to play notifying you of the course you will play and the pairings.  If you do not have e-mail, you will need to call the monthly coordinator on Wednesday to obtain this information.

    Cancellations Policy

Dinner Cancellations: If you have signed up for dinner and for some reason you are unable to attend, you may still cancel up until the Sunday prior to the scheduled dinner date. Notify the monthly coordinator via phone or email prior to 10:00 a.m. on the Sunday before the scheduled golf dinner. Players will otherwise be responsible for the cost of dinners not canceled by this time/date.

Look here for the list of Golf Coordinators to be contacted for questions or cancellations.

Golf Cancellations: Cancellations may be made up until 10:00 a.m. on the Tuesday prior to the Thursday's play date by calling or e-mailing the monthly coordinator.

    Arrival Time

We tee off promptly at 4:30 PM.  In October, because it gets darker earlier, we tee off at 4:00. Please arrive at the course by 4:00 p.m. (3:30 p.m. in October) so you have time to pay for your green/cart fees in the pro shop and for your meal in the restaurant. This will allow the coordinators enough time to make any last minute adjustments in the pairings.

    Rain

If it is raining or there is a threat of rain, check your e-mail after 3:00 PM for a note from one of the co-chairpersons, or call the course at which you were to play.

If we are rained out we will still have dinner and the time will be moved up to 6:00 p.m. The cancellation rules still apply. If you signed up for dinner and did not cancel by the required cancellation date and time you are still responsible to pay for the dinner .

    Payments

Pay for dinner at the restaurant before playing (this will help speed up the serving of dinner as we cannot begin serving till all dinners have been paid for). Pay for your golf at the Pro Shop when you check in on Thursday (4:00 PM)
