WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- This is a 5-mile
white water rafting trip in the Cherokee National Forest with Class III and
Class IV rapids.
- No experience is
necessary. There is a trained
guide for each group of 6 rafters.
- Each person is
provided a life vest, helmet, and paddle.
- Arrive at Ocoee
Rafting by 9:30AM to allow
time to get in groups of six, suit-up, and finish any paperwork, if
necessary.
- You must sign a
waiver of liability prior to the trip.
- Last refund date is
Thursday, August 7th.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING
- Bathing suits or
quick-dry shorts and a T-shirt.
- Shoes that are
secure on your feet, i.e. old tennis shoes, strap-on sandals, or water
shoes.
- Towel, shower items
(if you wish), a change of clothes, and a plastic bag for wet clothes.
DIRECTIONS: APPROXIMATELY
1 ½ - HOUR DRIVE
- Set up your own car
pools in advance or meet at the Tellico Village Visitor’s Center at
7:30AM to arrange carpooling. The last car will leave the Center at 8:00AM
sharp!
- Follow these
directions (not Mapquest or other online directions, as they are not
correct):
- 444/Tellico
Parkway to TN72
- Left on TN72 to
US411
- Right on US 411
(toward Madisonville) to Hwy 68
- Hwy68 (towards
Tellico Plains) to Ducktown (about 45 miles)
- In Ducktown,
drive through the traffic light and go approx. ¼ mile
- Watch for a
green sign on the left for “TN Department of
Transportation,” which shares the driveway
with Ocoee Rafting. Turn in and keep right up the hill.
