Our first co-sponsored Welcome Coffee was attended by 48 new Tellico Village residents representing 26 households. Nancy Eident, HOA Welcome Coffee chairperson, shared the podium with John Cherry, Public Relations Manager of the POA, Chris Garner, POA board member, Karen Brown, HOA VP of Programs and Linda Baran, New Villagers representative. Each speaker presented information on the structure, purpose and activities of their respective organizations with emphasis on how to participate and where to find additional information. This co-sponsored Welcome Coffee will be held every other month and all new residents are encouraged to attend. The following dates are scheduled: August 16, and September 20, at the Tanasi Clubhouse; and November 15, at the Yacht Club. Meetings are held at 10:00 am and the presentation lasts about two hours.
Starting in July, the New Villagers Club Dutch Treat Orientation Breakfast will change its format by partnering with the Home Owners Association to present a comprehensive orientation geared to assist newcomers as they transition to their new homes in Tellico Village and East Tennessee. Useful information will be shared ranging from how to register to vote and get a drivers license to learning about available shopping to understanding how the Village is governed and how to access Village services. You will leave with a detailed set of resource materials that will help you acclimate to Village life.
In conjunction with this change, the New Villagers Club is required to amend its By-Laws to reflect our new way of operating. The revised language shown below will be voted on by the Club’s Board of Directors at its regularly scheduled Board meeting on August 16. If you have any questions or comments regarding the change, please contact any Board member during this open comment period.
Article X – Standing Committees
The Welcome Coffee chair shall be responsible for working with his/her counterpart in the Tellico Village HomeOwners Association to arrange, publicize and present a periodic orientation session for newcomers to Tellico Village.
This year New Villagers will be collecting food for the Lenoir City good Samaritan Center to be distributed to needy families. The demand is much higher than in previous years. Because of the economic situation, Good Sam is seeing people who work on commission, part time workers, and trades people who can make their rent or mortgages but do not have anything left for food. The Need is Here! Now! Cash Donations - Good Samaritan Center, 119 A Street, Lenoir City, TN 37771. Please don't forget the pets -- they are hungry too.
