Welcome to Dinners for Six! This activity provides New Villagers with an opportunity for fun gatherings, good food, new friends, and conversations. Tellico Village is a very special place with a wide variety of individuals–some are singles, some are couples, and some are waiting for their spouses to join them. For those new to this dining experience, here is a brief explanation. Each month, groups of 5, 6 or 7 will meet in the home of a host who provides the entree, vegetable (if desired) and all beverages. The guests will either provide appetizers & salad OR bread & dessert. The group will be different individuals each month and you will provide a different part of the meal each time. A lot of good food is enjoyed at these gatherings so please consider sharing the recipe for the dish that you provide at the dinner. Please note that this is a social group and not a forum for personal, religious or political viewpoints. Your name will be on the schedule each month unless you are a substitute.

The hosts’ names are listed in the left-hand column. The host is responsible for contacting the guests by the first of the month and setting a mutually convenient date. Try to offer several possible dates. You may be as creative as you wish with this – any day of the week, and any type of dining experience (Sunday brunch, patio/deck dinners & pontoon boat picnics are some variations that have been successful). As host, it is desirable to inform your guests of your choice of entrée, so that they may provide a compatible dish to complement the meal. A phone confirmation, by the host in the week before the dinner, is recommended. If any emergency arises and you are unable to host during your month, plan to switch to a date that you can host. It is preferable that you host in your assigned month. However, if that’s impossible, choose another month and coordinate a date with your guests. If your host has not contacted you by the beginning of the month, feel free to contact them.

If a guest cannot attend on any of the suggested dates, the host is encouraged to contact a substitute from the sub-list. The sub-list may be found below the list of participants on the ‘roster list’. This sub-list will remain unchanged during the three-month rotation. However, as additional New Villagers express an interest in Dinners for Six, they will be added to the substitute list. Remember these new arrivals are very eager to participate and will be happy to be included. If a substitute cannot be found from any of these sources, feel free to call a neighbor or another Villager to join you.

Every effort has been made to ensure that you are scheduled with different couples for each rotation, however, in some cases, this may not be possible. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact me. Your feedback is always appreciated.
