New Villagers
(The Sunsphere Is Knoxville’s Most Recognized Landmark)
Sunsphere Private Luncheon @ The Skybox
Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Knoxville’s Sunsphere is one of the few reminders still standing of the 1982 World’s Fair. It was constructed as the central symbol for the event. It stood among pavilions set up by countries around the world, as well as corporations wishing to tout ideas relating to the Fair’s theme, "Energy Turns the World."
During its six-month run, May 1 thru October 31, the Fairgrounds was a busy spot indeed, with more than 11 million guests enjoying the sites. Since then, the fair site has been converted to a multi use public park with the Amphitheater and the Sunsphere as the remaining links to a time when Knoxville was in the World’s spotlight. Today, the Sunsphere still inspires those who visit and this experience is made that much better with great food and exceptional service offered by Southern Graces
